My Daughter-in-Law Told Me to “Stay Out of Our Finances”—So I Made One Phone Call After She Left

PART 3

“I have permission.”

“From whom?”

“My husband.”

The manager looked at her.

“Your husband is not the account owner.”

She blinked.

“I think there’s been some confusion.”

“There may be.”

She pulled out her phone.

“I can call him.”

The manager nodded.

“That would be helpful.”

She dialed my son.

The phone rang.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

No answer.

She frowned and tried again.

Still nothing.

I watched from the far side of the lobby.

She had not noticed me.

The manager looked uncomfortable.

“Perhaps you can return later with the appropriate documentation.”

“No.”

Her voice sharpened.

“I need this handled today.”
