She flushed.

“I thought you’d stay with us.”

“Where?”

“In the suite.”

I turned toward my father.

“Was that the plan?”

He rubbed his forehead.

“We have a large suite. We could have worked something out.”

I looked at him for several seconds.

Then I asked the question I had wanted to ask since the airport.

“Did you ever intend to let me stay with you?”

Nobody answered.

I looked at Madison.

“Did you?”

She lowered her eyes.

That was all I needed.

Margaret continued, her tone still professional.

“There is another matter we should address. Mr. Parker’s executive account has been used for several family-related hospitality expenses. Some were approved under existing policy, while others require further review because the supporting documentation is incomplete.”
